jules marlow

writing from inside a drought.

If you gave me a choice between
water and approval
I’d choose thirst.

If you gave me a coin
for every time I kicked sand
over my spirit
because I thought you didn’t approve
I’d be a king.

And if I’d used every pile of that sand
to create castles instead of glass
I’d have a kingdom.
